Bahar Bilgiçataç Pekin is a jewellery designer inspired by sea, nature, animals, colors, and emotions…
I was born in Istanbul and spent my childhood and teenage years on an island with my grandparents during the summers until I was 22. I have always been interested in art, jewellery, nature, history, and travelling as well.
I have studied Business Informatics at Marmara University, Istanbul, in the German language ( 1996-2001 ). I spent six months in Germany as a management trainee and continue my professional career in Supply Chain management within global companies in Istanbul.
I began my journey in jewellery design in 2004 with semi-precious natural stones. In 2015, I first encountered flame working within a workshop by Kathre Glass, which had been one of my dreams since I was 15. Then, I attended several workshops by Glass Furnace Beykoz Istanbul and Panda Glass Studio between 2017 and 2024, and practiced flame working with glass beads in my home studio.
I also attended Art Therapy lessons from August to September 2023 at Kadir Has University, Istanbul, to become an Art Therapy Facilitator, and I also self-practiced within several workshops from 2023 to 2025.
As of spring 2024, I have decided to change my life entirely and quit my supply chain professional role after 25 years, moving with my family to Antalya in July 2024.
I started my home flame work studio in Antalya in April 2025 and continue to work with flameworking and creating glass beads. I design handmade jewelry, mainly with glass, silver, semi-precious natural stones, and steel, bringing my emotions to life in a colorful world.
I also organize workshops to show how to make glass beads using 1200⁰C flameworking for those who’d like to be introduced to the magic world of flameworking and discover a self-fulfilling foundation, much like meditation, through a creative world full of surprises while creating their own beads.
